WLIB created and funded the Jean Robertson Scholarship Fund which in the last 35 years has given yearly $2500 scholarships to deserving female law students, totaling over $100,000.
WLIB hosts “Meet and Mingle with your Elected Female Officials” yearly for last 40 years where our membership networks with state and local female state senators, assemblywomen, county commissioners and mayors,
We have begun partnering with the Susan Lucianna Breast Cancer Fund, a local non profit helping breast cancer patients with quality of life needs. We hosted a RALLY AGAINST BREAST CANCER last October outside the courthouse which raised over $7500 for the charity.
WLIB hosts a reception every fall for the BERGEN COUNTY judges, law clerks and membership so everyone can get to know each other.
WLIB passionately gathers generous donations for the shelter during the holiday season, spreading warmth and hope to those in need.
Laura is the new president of the Bergen County Bar Association. This is a lengthy commitment taking many years from serving as a trustee, then ascending through all the officer positions, to finally becoming the President of the Association. Laura expressed that it is important to be a part of the ‘trade groups’ for our profession. Both BCBA and WLIB are important parts of the legal community. Laura expressed that an essential part of the membership and belonging/attending these groups is the social side of our profession as well as meeting lawyers who practice in different areas of the law.
The Young Lawyers Committee of Women Lawyers in Bergen meets on the 1st Wednesday of every month. Each meeting is hosted by one of the members.
